Frey Recruitment has spent years placing permanent crew on motor and sailing yachts. Alongside those roles, we've always seen a second, faster-moving market: freelance day work, relief cover, delivery crew, season fill-ins, and short-term villa and private estate work.
That side of the industry has historically relied on WhatsApp groups, word of mouth, and ad-hoc emails. It works, but it's slow for clients and opaque for freelancers. We built Freelancer by Frey to bring that market onto a proper platform — so posting a role and finding one take minutes, not days.
We don't take commission on hires. Clients pay for platform access, freelancers pay an annual membership for full access, and the relationship is yours to own from the first message onwards.
Most people we've worked with aren't cleanly a "freelancer" or a "client" for long — a chief stew looking for her next freelance charter might also need to crew up for a villa job she's running this summer; a captain lining up delivery work might need to post a relief engineer role next week. The platform assumes that, so one account covers both roles and you can switch between them from your dashboard without signing out.
